Lost in a lost amusement park in the woods. Built by a local farmer who had a spare acre and a favorite hammer with a chipped handle that helped to make the sign above, a little nod of fun to the departing customer. Two feral children live there under the thinning trees. Saggy-bellied old men try to get sun, but the snarling runs them away. In the distance, windows show people watching people eat. Sometimes you hear laughter.
Ron Burch’s fiction has been published in numerous literary journals including South Dakota Review, Fiction International, Mississippi Review, New Flash Fiction and been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and other awards. His last novel, JDP, was published by BlazeVOX Books. He earned his MFA from Antioch University Los Angeles.
