Gooseberry Pie Lit Magazine publishes fiction with exactly six-sentences and no more than 400 words. Title does not count as one of the six sentences or towards the word count. Submit no more than one submission packet every 90 days. Send up to three stories in one submission packet (.doc or .docx).

We also publish original artwork (photography, drawings, illustrations, etc.) on our front cover or alongside our published stories. Use the Art Submissions Link to submit up to 5 images. Submit no more than one packet every 90 days. Since we pair art with writing, it can take up to six months or longer to make a match.

New issues are published on the second Thursday of each month. Gooseberry Pie Lit Magazine asks for first-time publication rights and the right to display the work for the duration of the magazine. Copyright reverts to author upon publication. If your work is subsequently reprinted elsewhere, please acknowledge Gooseberry Pie Lit Magazine as the site of first publication.

No submissions with hatred, prejudice, or x-rated material. 

Simultaneous submissions are cool. Notify us prompty if accepted elsewhere. 

Upon the publication of their work, contributors receive a complimentary print edition. We group three monthly issues into one print edition, shipping them out at the end of each quarter. Winter: October, November, and December. Spring: January, February, and March. Summer: April, May, and June. Fall: July, August, and September. The print edition is not currently for sale.

We nominate for awards including Best of the Net, Best Microfiction, and Best Small Fiction.
