Sky High

“Higher,” says Chelsea. I draw bigger wings. Up, up, we go inhaling altitude, radio tower now a dot below.  Chelsea grins, eyes dreaming, thumb pointing higher, higher. I draw a larger sky with stars we’ll never reach as we fly, not even high anymore, still rising. Beach, dog, boat— swallowed by fading blue.

Guy Biederman divides his time between a houseboat, an adobe casa caretaking cats, a cabin, and the road in between. He favors strong coffee, scotch on the docks, and the desert’s wabi sabi beauty. It’s all true, especially the fiction.
