Stupid name for a celestial body, I say. I clink my champagne flute accidentally against a vase. I hate you, you say. On the news, a man vomits into a bucket. He’s pointing at the blazing ball of death in the sky, standing outside that eponymous truck stop in Missouri. He’s an asshole.
Jonathan Cardew’s fiction appears in Cincinnati Review, Cream City Review, wigleaf, SmokeLong Quarterly, and others. He is the author of the chapbook, A World Beyond Cardboard (ELJ Editions). He lives in Milwaukee, Wis.
