Compliments on his new coffee had him begging participants to hush about its virtues. They’ll have this kitchen full of rowdy drinkers, he thought. People on anything that strong will run you out of shortbread, fumble your delicate trinkets, compare advice, plan protests, launch small businesses, take sunset painting classes. All I ever did, he told himself, was make good coffee. I wanted for more, of course, but it took a good long time to find a good pot, good beans, and a good long table. A few good folks to hush.
