In the End

man in hospice

by Kelli Short Borges

Wedding goblets shatter on granite, the house listed for sale—hopes and dreams included. He takes the Beemer, she gets the boys, with the exception of Tuesdays and Christmas. Years later, a diagnosis. Her children’s call. In the hospice room, she gentles a blanket over his feet. Holds his hand.

Kelli Short Borges lives and writes in Arizona. Her stories have won contests and been nominated for multiple awards. She’s currently working on her first novel.
